Luc Dekoninck

Luc Dekoninck was born in Torhout, Belgium on September 9, 1968. He received the M. Sc. degree in Experimental Physics from Ghent University (Belgium), in 1990. He worked in several IT related jobs till 1999 and received a degree in Environmental Science in 1997 at the University of Antwerp . From November 1999 he is working as a noise expert at the Department of Information Technology (INTEC). During this period, his work was focused on traffic related noise exposure assessments, noise mapping, quality of life and noise control engineering with a focus on external services. In 2011, he decided to start a PhD combining his experience in traffic, noise, GIS, software development and databases with his interests in air pollution. In November 2015 this resulted in a PhD: "Spatiotemporal modelling of personal exposure to traffic related particulate matter using noise as a proxy". His current research topics focus on applications of his PhD in epidemiology and policy support.
